KSDK-TV and Jobs with Justice bargain new contracts

Jun 28, 2012 by

KSDK-TV members, whose contract was set to expire on August 24,  recently voted to extend their current collective bargaining agreement for two years with no changes.

The expiring agreement ran for a single year and included no raises to the higher-paid classifications but did contain a 10% wage increase for the lower-paid production assistants.  The extension calls for wages to remain in place but management – in proposing the concept – noted that nearly all Guild bargaining unit members had just received merit raises and noted the “same as” language in the Guild contract regarding employee benefits, which, they argued, would protect Guild members gong forward.  The company’s proposal was ratified at a unit meeting held at the station on June 19.

Meanwhile, over at Missouri Jobs with Justice, more bargaining talks were completed.  These however involved wage re-openers to a contract bargained in early 2011 which runs through 2014.  The result of these negotiations are that all unit members at Jobs with Justice will receive wage increases ranging from 7% to 10%.  All other conditions of the contract remain unchanged.
