Member Benefits

UMG members belong to The NewsGuild, a sector with the Communications Workers of America.  As such, they can access a variety of benefits not available to non-union employees.


The CWA/NETT academy offers on-line training to help members broaden their skill set and advance their careers.

Through Bismark State College, UMG members can take classes in these areas among others:

Members will also have access to how-do videos on how to master programs like Excel, AutoCAD, Word, Final Cut Pro, Premiere and Photography Dreamweaver.

They can also access Focus on U materials for self-improvement in areas like financial awareness, business etiquette and job searching.


UMG members can join the Union Plus program and a gain discounts from a variety of companies. When prompted by the “Union Benefits Locator” to designate your union, scroll down to “CWA/TNG”.
