The United Media Guild Executive Committee has approved the hiring of Robin Harvey as Business Representative. She will work with Business Representative Shannon Duffy during his transition toward retirement.
Harvey, an attorney with Legal Services of Eastern Missouri, had been serving as the elected chair of the UMG’s LSEM unit. She was instrumental in efforts to organize that unit and build internal mobilizing.
She has played a key role in the bargaining for a first contract at LSEM — a role she will continue in her new job.
Harvey is a graduate of Washington University and Washington University Law School. Prior to joining LSEM, she was a field attorney for the National Labor Relations Board.
She grew up around the newspaper business as the daughter of Buck Harvey, the long-time sports columnist for the San Antonio Express-News. Now she will be on the front lines representing journalists as well as social justice workers in her new role.
