Virtual Rally Tonight! Support Gannett Journalists!

Public supporters of Gannett Unions are invited to a virtual rally this Thursday night, “Save local news: Gannett journalists speak out,” hosted by The NewsGuild-CWA.

Whether you’re a union or non-union journalist, a supporter of local news, a member of the community, or a union worker elsewhere, you will learn about how hundreds of Gannett employees across the country are fighting back against unilateral company actions such as layoffs, outsourcing work, ending news operations in low income and vulnerable communities, and massive staff cuts resulting in thousands of neighborhoods losing coverage and newsrooms shutting down.

Gannett workers are unionizing in droves, and they need your support in the fight for better wages, fully staffed newsrooms, and stronger benefits at work. This is how we will restore local news.

Join us this Thursday, October 6th at 6 p.m. Central Time, using this Zoom webinar linkbit.ly/gannett-rally.

The meeting has been set up as a webinar so attendees can remain anonymous. All attendees are encouraged to ask questions in the chat.

Guest speakers will include Florida Congresswoman Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick, New York State Senator James Sfoukis, musician and activist Billy Bragg, and unionized Gannett journalists from across the company who will speak about what they’ve gained from joining The NewsGuild and what they’re fighting for at the bargaining table.

Please share this event on social media with the graphic and the Webinar link in this email. Invite others you know to join you!
